Japanese Countryside

Self portrait in the Japanese countryside, with paper cranes drifting me. This was my first time studying abroad and living in another country. I was 16.

It was the place that launched the idea to make and sell my handmade paper origami earrings. Folding origami is how I could make friends and spend time with people doing an activity despite the language barrier.

The cranes represent the start of my study abroad journey and the beginnings of my art business endeavors. 

The background is the neighborhood I lived in in Japan.
